House JP forms two volumes functioning as a unified whole

Obring Arquitectura constructs House JP, a single-family residence nestled within a closed neighborhood in Funes, a town situated a few kilometers from the city of Rosario. The site offers a singular access front from the internal circulation of the neighborhood, boasting north-south orientations that inform the house’s layout. Two distinct yet harmonious volumes seamlessly function as a unified whole. The lower volume, positioned along the eastern side of the lot, exhibits a more enclosed form, concealing the intimate bedroom sector to embrace privacy and tranquility. This block arranges essential service areas such as the kitchen, bathrooms, storage spaces, and garage.

reinforced concrete with exposed boards constructs the form

The main block houses the social area, a light-filled zone for gatherings and relaxation. Embracing the surrounding greenery, this space opens up entirely with glazing on all sides, allowing for a seamless visual and spatial connection with the garden. A floating roof, constructed of a thin sheet of reinforced concrete, elegantly hovers over this area of heightened space. Under it, the adjoining gallery extends from the main living room and dining room, blurring the rooms’ boundaries through expansive sliding openings and seamlessly intertwining the indoor and outdoor realms.

The exterior space develops towards the back of the lot, achieving a certain visual independence from the street. The outdoor zone culminates in an infinity pool that merges with the lush green of the garden. The design team at Obring Arquitectura opts for reinforced concrete with exposed boards as a constructive solution, adopted in all the structural and enclosure elements. Concrete is combined with thin metal columns and large glass surfaces, to achieve the lightness of the slab floating over the social area, conceived as the heart of the house.
